KAB Guild and Games Union Leaders Inducted in Ceremony

In a ceremony held yesterday Tuesday 13th March 2023 in  Kabsom Hall, the Kabale University  Guild and Games Union leaders were officially inducted into their positions. The induction marks the beginning of a new era for the leaders, who have joined forces to represent the interests, and issues of students.

The leaders of the Guild and Games Union were equipped with knowledge and skills in the following activities; Guild and games Union Constitutions, Procured Accountability and Financial Management, Balancing, and Excelling in academics and Leadership, Good governance, Result oriented leadership and communication channels, Discipline and Accountability to students for their roles.

The induction ceremony was attended by a number of prominent figures in the University Management and Administration, including the Deputy Vice chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration, Dean of Students, Senior communication officer, Ass.Prof.Deniss Ssekiwu, University counsellor , and the team from the office of the Dean of students. Many of those in attendance expressed their support for the newly-inducted leaders and their goals for Kabale University.

The Senior communications and branding officer (Mr.Godfrey Sempugu) talked about Balancing, Excelling in academics, and leadership  where he started by saying that you can not build a great building on a weak  foundation , and honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. He emphasized (Wisdom) where he gave an example from  Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the lord is the beginning of Wisdom and the knowledge of the holy one is understanding” .He further encouraged everyone to be disciplined ,humble,and flexible with the changing world of technology.He concluded by advising the leaders to love their university and feel proud of it through following the social media handles of kabale university (twitter,facebook,Instagram,YouTube,LinkedIn)

The Dean of Students (Mr.Tukamushaba Amos) thanked the Guild president and the leaders for organising the event.He also thanked the facilitators for accepting the invitation.He encouraged leaders to be disciplined all the time,humble and nice to people.

 

 

 

The induction was officially closed by  The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration (Anny Katabaazi-Bwengye) . In her speech, she highlighted the importance of the role of the newly inducted members in fostering a vibrant student life.

She stressed the need for the Union to work hand in hand with the university administration to create an enabling environment for students in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor further urged the student leaders to ensure that they adhere to the university’s code of conduct and rules, stating that any breach of the regulations would attract disciplinary action. She also highlighted the need for the Union to maintain transparency and accountability in all their activities, especially with regards to finances.

In conclusion, the Deputy Vice Chancellor congratulated the newly inducted members and encouraged them to work tirelessly to balance leadership and Academics.She encouraged the every one to use leadership as a stepping stone for a better future through networking. She also, assured them of the university administration’s support in their endeavors and wished them a successful term.

 

With the induction , the Guild and Games Union are now poised to take on these issues and make real progress in improving the working conditions and rights of students at Kabale University
