Kabale University was overcome with grief and sorrow as news of the untimely death of Mukisa Franko, a third-year Information Technology student, spread throughout the campus. Mukisa Franko, a bright and focused student known for his academic brilliance, was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology at the Faculty of Computing Library and Information Sciences. His dedication and helpful nature endeared him to his classmates, and his absence will undoubtedly be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Tragedy struck on the morning of Saturday, July 15, 2023, when Mukisa Franko passed away at Mulago Hospital. He had been battling blood cancer and underwent a challenging operation, which sadly proved unsuccessful. Despite the efforts of his friends and classmates, who had created a WhatsApp group to raise funds for his treatment, fate had a different plan.
Akandida Mathias, a close friend and coursemate of Franko, expressed the sorrow shared by the students. He revealed the students’ collective efforts to contribute and secure their friend’s life, but their hopes were shattered by the devastating news of his passing.
The entire Kabale University community extends their heartfelt condolences to Mukisa Franko’s family, who now face the painful task of saying goodbye to their beloved son. The burial is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 17th, 2023, at the family home in Karuguuza Village, Kibaale District.
